Nancy CoachingGreetings!

A new year and a new decade are already in full swing! I hope that
you started 2010 by spending time reflecting and celebrating your successes in the past year and thought about how you can replicate and magnify those results in the year ahead. By leveraging 2009's achievements, the energy of this new decade and a healthy commitment to positive change you really can be on your way to a more fulfilling life.

Now let's add to the equation the 2010 Winter Olympics. Why? Because for 17 days people around the world will be surprised, delighted, inspired and motivated by the Olympians making their dreams come true. How can you turn all of that emotional stimulation into forward movement in your life? Let's see what it takes to embrace the energy of going for the gold in your life!
GOING FOR THE GOLD!
Welcome to 2010, a new year and a new decade filled with promise and potential! With the constrictive mindset of 2009 beginning to be replaced by the spirit of recovery and possibilities, now is the perfect time to decide that this is the year that you make a difference in your own life. What you've chosen and experienced up until now has less impact and value than what you choose from here forward, so make the proclamation that you're going for the gold!

Going for the gold starts with wanting to stand out in your own life, to explore and test what you truly are capable of, to challenge old assumptions and stories, and to answer the whisper of what your heart has been lobbying for. It requires a dream, a desire, a commitment and a knowing (not hoping, knowing) that you will finish first. Life, like the Olympics, offers you the opportunity to either participate, to win a medal or to win the gold medal and in that initial decision to go for the gold is the power and mindset that sets you apart, sets you for success and fuels the journey.

The one habit that separates the top five percent of Olympic competitors who will win from the other ninety-five percent who just play:  setting goals! The same is true in every day life. Setting goals allows you to be proactive, forward moving and forward thinking rather than reacting to each day as it appears to randomly unfold. Most people never set goals however goals are the blueprint for the life we want to create, the road map for the journey we want to take and are critical to our success.

Here are 10 steps to setting goals that will have you going for the gold:
  • Decide what you want.
Find a goal that is big enough to excite you, is specific and is yours.
  • Decide when you want it.
Putting a time limit helps you formulate a plan.
  • List the pay-value.
Why do you want the goal? List the compelling reasons.
  • Determine the obstacles in your way.
What habits and attitudes must you change?
  • What is your plan?
Goals with written plans are almost always reached. Address the obstacles.
  • Ask important questions.
Will my plan work? Can I work my plan? Is it worth the price?
  • Schedule your plan.
Scheduling is vital! Put your plans on a calendar.
  • Start now.
You are now ready. Begin right away and execute the first step of your plan now.
  • Never reach a goal without first setting another one.
    Be forward thinking, what's next?
  • Never, never quit.
Stay with your plan until it is finished. Celebrate your vision, growth, results.
Set yourself for sustainable success in the year ahead - it's the only way to go! Use the example and inspiration of the Olympians to ignite your determination and energize your goal. You too are in control of your life, what you think, what you say and what you do. Once set, your gold is attainable and closer than you may think. Choose to surround yourself with people who support your goals, encourage your growth and celebrate your success. It begins with a YES! Yes to your desire, yes to what you deserve, yes to your dream, yes to your gold ...
go for it!
