Igniting Passion ... Initiating Change
I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE THINKING!Here we are racing to the end of another year. With only about 45 days left to 2010 it's a good time to take inventory and see how you've been spending your emotional currency this year. As you look at your accomplishments compared to your dreams and commitments at the start of this year, you will have a pretty good idea of whether you've been using your time, energy and focus in ways that have positively impacted your life. If you like the life you've created this year, kudos, you have found your secret to success. If you are left wanting something more or something different, then it's time to harness your thoughts and hone your focus! Have you noticed how busy your mind is with its ongoing internal dialogue that is often just familiar chatter playing non-stop inside of you? Well it's there and you better believe that it is running you until you decide to run it. Those thoughts that you continuously think, day in and day out, turn into your focus and are really determining the quality of your life. It's easier than you think to figure out what you think about, talk about and focus on all day long...just look at what you have in any area of your life. Like what you see? And, if you are wondering if you're any good at creating or manifesting things in your life, know that you are! Everyone is very good at manifesting in their world; we all do it all the time though most often unconsciously and focused on what is lacking in life. But your mind is a powerful goal seeking mechanism. Whatever you tend to think about and focus on, your mind goes to work finding a way to bring it to your awareness and into your life, thinking it is what you want. And because most thoughts are triggered by a negative past experience that we don't want to repeat, we tend to spend our time thinking those thoughts that scare us; what we don't have, what we don't want, how we fall short, how unhappy we are, how people mistreat us, what we think we can't do, what frightens us, what stresses us, and what goes bump in the night. Your mind is an obedient servant and remarkably powerful. It will seek out and deliver more of what you spend the majority of your time thinking about and focusing on. Consistently think poor, sad, lonely or lack, and you will experience it. Good grief, so what to do? It's time to break old habits because you can't step into a new more vibrant future with the thoughts and emotions of past disappointments and hurts. Use your thoughts to tell your mind what you are ready to experience. With a little work you can shift your internal set point and change your thinking (and your results!) from what you don't want to what you do want ... focus is the key! 1. It all starts with a little meta-cognition, you observing you in the moment. Notice when you are worrying about things, complaining to others, when the glass looks half empty, when you are upset or unhappy. 2. STOP that familiar chatter - it energetically scares you. Acknowledge that what you're thinking isn't what you want and shift your thinking and focus to preferred outcomes. It may feel insignificant or a stretch, however it's vital to switch to supportive thought patterns. Forget what you don't want. What DO you want? 3. Ask the question "How do I ... ?" filling in that blank with your desired result. Because your mind is eager to get to work, you need to give it something to find an answer or solution to; something to create around. It will be there for you! 4. We're back at it again, motion, motion, motion! Action is critical and each step leads you to the next step; to the next door that is waiting to be opened by you or for you. What action are you willing to commit to? What are you willing to stop or start? Begin today and keep at it! 2010 is almost over and it's time to take a good look and hold yourself accountable for what you've experienced this year. If you do nothing - zero, zip, nada - then this year will pass as just another year and your life will continue to move along the same trajectory as it already has. Without observation, decision, change and action you can count on 2011 being much the same as 2010. But, if you are willing to begin a little internal heavy lifting, becoming aware of your thoughts and deliberately choosing them and driving them in the direction of what you want, you will see changes in your life...guaranteed! You have to be willing to think beyond what you are experiencing to what you want to experience; think beyond old reactions to new responses that will bring new results; think beyond old patterned actions to new ones that are solution seeking. With only 45 days left to this year, start right now to embrace the fact that everything is internally generated and begins with a thought, your thought. And luckily the thing you have the most control over in life is your thinking! |
